Getting to the goal
Hi all! I'm baaaack.
First off, thank you for all of your wonderful words of encouragement and advice and support. I read everything that you've said and I've tried all of it in the past week (really!) and it's paid off. I've lost 1.8 lbs so far, which isn't a huge amount but hey, it's in the right direction. I've also bought a pedometer, which is incredibly insightful. When I remember to wear it.
It's funny how you don't think about what you eat until you write it down. My downfall isn't what I suspected: chips, bacon, or booze. Nope. It's baked goods and cheese. (BTW, although I wax poetic about wine on the blog, I actually don't drink that much; if I did, I would've flunked out of school already). But back to food--if I can get my hand on a donut or a croissant or even better a ham and cheese croissant, then mmm mmm MMM. It is all over. It starts me on a crap-eating cascade for the rest of the day. So the new motto is, "stay strong through lunch." If I can eat healthy through lunch, then I'm golden for the rest of the day.
School has started again, as you can probably tell from the time I'm writing this post. I'm now off to bed with the kitties in tow, as I have a Casper-la sitting on my shoulder and a Sampson sitting on my feet. We are off to beautiful central America on Wednesday night, so if I don't write again before then, have a great 10 days y'all, and I will be thinking of your wedding planning, kiddie asthma, moving plans, ultrasounds, baby showers, and other life happenings, with fingers crossed that all is going well!
Whilst staring at volcanoes and dancing at weddings, I might also be eating a cheese-soaked doughnut dipped in rum. I hear it's a specialty in Guatemala. :-)
