Klutz Gene
Here's hoping it's recessive, or our kids are in for some serious trouble.
This weekend I managed to fall over a concrete stopper in our parking garage, landing on my knee. Ouch. Now that I'm limping around with yet another goose-egg, I've started to think about my klutziness, and damn. It is amazing that I am allowed to have a driver's license with the crappy coordination I have. Past highlights include:
I managed to slice open a finger while pitting a peach. 3 stitches.
I cut my finger while gardening with a spade. A spade, y'all! ER visit, surgery on infected finger.
I fell down on my way to class. Broken knee.
I fell down waiting for a bus. Broken tailbone.
I slammed the car door on my foot (mult instances). Various broken toes.
I took shop class (NOTE: never, ever, EVER allow your klutzy children to do this, not even your adolescent feminists). Broken finger, cut requiring sealant.
I fell in a cross-country meet. Broken wrist.
And so on and so forth. Those are only the highlights requiring hospital visits. The funny thing is that I'm marrying a guy with excellent coordination. He dances gracefully, he plays volleyball with ease, etc. Whereas I try to play volleyball and nearly decapitate myself getting wrapped up in the net. So yes, let's hope that the klutz gene is recessive and he is not a klutz gene carrier. Or I should start practicing the route to Children's Hospital now for our not-yet-conceived children.
