The pregnancy question
Wow, one stomach bug and y'all jump on the email-comment-phone preggers train!
No, I am not pregnant. We aren't trying, and trust me, there will be no accidental pregnancies in our future.
Flashback time...I take Coumadin because I had some really nasty pulmonary embolisms back in June. I will be on the drug for a minimum of a few more months, and it's a Category X drug. This means you absolutely, positively, cannot take it under any circumstances when you're pregnant. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Women who get pregnant while on Coumadin are strongly advised to consider an abortion, because Coumadin basically liquefies parts of the forming fetus, among other highlights. No kidding. From the package insert: if the patient becomes pregnant while taking this drug, she should be apprised of the potential risks to the fetus, and the possibility of termination of the pregnancy should be discussed in light of those risks.
Eek. So yes, no babies for us any time in the next year to two years. At least.
But it does tickle me that some of y'all jumped to the pregnancy conclusion. :-) Trust me, it was a nasty virus, one that I believe I passed along to the husband, because I'm a good wife like that. Now I am off to stuff my brain with the wonders of medicinal chemistry before tomorrow's quiz, and savor the yummy cheese I ate in place of a healthy dinner. Besides, if I was pregnant, I'd have to give up soft cheese, and wine, and that's just not happening anytime soon.

I'll keep my distance from Scott...
And woah, you can't have soft cheese if you're pregnant?
icHeh. I didn't think you were pregnant, but it's funny because last week everyone seemed to think I was too. Which, dude, we have a 9 month-old baby. Trust me, that's pretty much all the birth control you need right there.
Sorry you were sick, though. Blah.
Jonathan: unpasteurized cheeses are forbidden for pregnant women. So things like brie, feta, and all the nice stinky ones are out. No fun.
That happened to me last June when I got a 24 hour stomach bug--everyone thinks you're preggers instead of assuming you're sick...all because you're a newlywed. Feel better and sending you kick ass vibes re: classes!
