The Year in Review
Aaaah, 2006 is almost over. Another year of the good, the bad, and the meh. The highlights film please!
**Going to LA twice in six weeks, but never for more than 24 hours. Don't ask me why; maybe in the 25th hour you turn into a mawkish socialite undeserving of fame?
**Vegas with Steph and Bob. Highlights included cheap Sahara blackjack and being upgraded to a suite so Scott could gape at the Bellagio fountains in proper fashion.
**Going back east for a bridal shower hosted by the Brothers Fish, and having a surprise appearance by my family.
**Hosting my family for Thanksgiving. Happy to report no food poisoning, COPS appearances, or hard feelings as a result.
**Moving into our condo. By far, a lovely arrangement and it's nice to know that we are bringing up the numbers of second homeless in our building. On this floor we're bringing down the average owner age by at least 20 years.
**Adopting Sampson and Casper. The bad: I don't sleep through the night anymore, I know more about cat colons than I care to and I've had my cat cut my hair (although I was not aware of it at the time). The good: they're our little furry snugglebabies and we love 'em. Most of the time.
Now, on to the resolutions. What am I going to do this year?
1) Get married. I think that will be an easy one to keep, considering the deposit checks have been cashed. Oh, and I love him a lot. :-)
2) Volunteer with Habitat. Why haven't I done that sooner? Well, years ago I did volunteer with HFH and on a hot summer day in New Joisey, I tarred myself to a roof. Yes, you read that properly. Do you know how to get yourself off of a roof after said tarring? Gasoline. Nope, I kid you not. Wipe yourself down with some good ol' 87 unleaded and watch the tar come off. Please note that I am NOT suggesting you do this, but if you do end up with your butt stuck to a roof, I highly recommend this course of action.
3) Take martial arts. I haven't been involved since kung fu in college, and I would like more butt-whooping in my weekly routine.
4) Change my eating and exercise habits in a healthy manner so I have long-lasting change. If that fails, stop eating cheesecake in May and binge diet to fit into the wedding dress for July.
5) Run two 5Ks this year in under thirty minutes. I know, that's not a stellar time, but I find that keeping the bar low keeps us all happier, mmm 'kay?
I hope all of you have a safe, fun New Year's, I'd love to hear any resolutions out there if you have them, and remember to drink a glass of water between each round. Happy New Year!
