Be an Angel

Here's a plug post for one of my favorite organizations, Chemo Angels. I participate in both branches of this organization, Chemo Angels and Senior Angels. As a Chemo Angel, I support a young kid in a different time zone who has cancer. With Senior Angels, I am in contact with an older person who is a shut-in. I've even heard back from both families twice, who have sent me thank you notes and emails.

What's the commitment like? Each Friday or Saturday, I send out a small package or a letter that will arrive early to mid-week the following week. Then at the start of the following week, I send out a small note to each person to say that I'm thinking about them. Between postage, package materials, and small gifts, I spend about $20 a month on the programs. I spend more in birthday months, spending about $20 on a birthday gift.

So, if you like to write little notes, and have a penchant for getting little gifts together, then hey! This might be a good program for you. It's also awesome to be able to do volunteer work at any time of the day or night, on the bus or whatever, and then drop it at the post office. Love it. :-)

Happy Halloween!
