Note to the 'pubs: how to win
OK, here goes.
1) McCain was a POW. He suffered injuries during his internment; as a result, he cannot raise his arms above his shoulders. Before he debates, inject him full of cortisone so he doesn't look stiff on stage. People want to see presidential material. They do not want to see someone look like a tottering old man. That does not inspire confidence.
2) Get Palin to shut the hell up. Stop the incendiary talk. Get her to be positive. People are worried about their savings account, not about the Weather Underground (which, really? Obama was 8 years old at the time. Get real). Stop the mudslinging and unfounded fear mongering. It backfires.
3) Focus on the issues. Stop pandering. Stop winking, don't call everyone "my friend" (screw you, buddy, I don't have multiple houses, and you don't know what my life is like, you are NOT my friend). For the love of God, stop talking down to voters with the hokey Main Street crap. Talk to voters as if they're intelligent.
4) Get a new line. Stop talking about mavericks and earmarks. It isn't working for you.
5) Keep McCain's legendary temper under control. Medicate him if you have to, but if he slips up with a "that one" comment or something similar again, then God help him. Doesn't matter what you meant with it, politics are politics, and it's going to be used against you. Tell him he has to be a big boy and shake hands at the end, like it or not.
Given the debate performances so far, I doubt that McCain-Palin can right their sinking ship, but who knows? Anything can happen in the next month.
