Vote now! Operators are standing by!

What lies ahead: a post that isn't about cats, poop, or being grumpy! Amazing!

The big question: where the heck do we go on our honeymoon? Candidates include Kauai, Cabo, Thailand, Tahiti and the Cook Islands. We'd like to go tropical, not too expensive (thus Tahiti is probably not happening) and not 26 hours away (no Maldives for us). We're also getting married during hurricane season in the Caribbean, but there's always travel insurance for that concern. So, any thoughts? Any place you loved? Any place you'd warn us away from? Any place you'd suggest?

My parents went to Tahiti last July. It was my mother's dream vacation since forever. They had a lovely time, but it wasn't quite the paradise style bliss they had expected. Their main issue was that there wasn't a whole lot to do at night. I mean, yes, there's THAT, and there were a handful of restaurants. After they dined out at them all, there wasn't a lot to do. Apparently, Tahiti has a lot of wild dogs that roam around in packs. They come down out of the hills late at night, so it's not really safe after dark.

During the day, they went on a dolphin watching boat trip and swam with sharks and stingrays (seems scarier now, doesn't it?) and took bus tours of waterfalls and went to the Cezanne museum and a rum factory, but they still felt sort of bored. I think they were thinking the capital would be more like Honolulu, and it wasn't. My sister and brother-in-law, on the other hand, rented a convertible and drove around the Hawaiian islands and absolutely loved it.

WILD DOGS?? Holy crap! Wow, thanks for the heads up. I think I'll be looking over my shoulder now wherever we end up. That's very LOTF to me.
