Tales of the second root canal

#2 is OVAH, babeee!!! Now I get to move into Crown County of Root Canal Land, where the novocaine is less and so are the dentist bills. Yippie-yie-yay.

This root canal was not nearly so painful since it wasn't abscessed. I do have a calcified canal, and the doctor told me that it may abscess in the future. I don't know what else she said, because there was something about how if that happens they'll go up through the top of the tooth and I'll be knocked out and they'll have to cut my gums open but during this detailed explanation I had my fingers in my ears and I was humming NAHNAHNAHNAHNAH very loudly.

Ahem. So the painful part of this root canal? The music. Sweet baby Jesus, the music. I didn't even notice that my dentist has a radio during the first one because it was really painful and I was drugged to the gills. But this time I wished I had been drugged because (breathy sighing whispery voice here) Waaaarmm-One-Oh-Six-Point-Niiiiine-Seahhhhtle (end special voice) was really getting to me. People, they advertise John Tesh as an asset. And Delilah. Delilah!! What is this world coming to?

The most torturous songs, from least to most:
5) You're the Inspiration by Peter Cetera and Chicago. When I hear this I always imagine Mr. Miyagi and that so-not-sexy Karate Kid. Hate the movie, hate this song.
4) You're Beautiful by James Blunt. Aaaaahhh. To be blunt, this song sucks hard. This song hits my resonance frequency in a very bad way. This song makes me want to eat powdered cheese from Kraft M&C boxes, kick puppies, and light public parks on fire. He whines. He screeches. He's a stalker in the video. Why is this popular? Why?
3) Walking on Broken Glass by Annie Lennox. I feel like I'm eating broken glass when this song comes on. I have managed to nearly drive off the road in my mad lunge to change the radio when this crap song comes on the air.
2) Now and Forever by Richard Marx. Besides feeling like the song lasted forever, I was haunted by horrible flashbacks of my best friend's Richard Marx poster when we were in third grade, crushing out on a man in a MULLET. Flashbacks like this prove why some memories should stay buried.
1) Bad Day by Daniel Powter. Oh God. Oh GAWWWWD. Oh GAWD I hate this song. Hate with all of the passion I can muster, hate like that I reserve for Dick Cheney, haaaaate like that reserved for Fred Phelps. Bah. It's bouncy, it's infectious, it makes me want to stick a sharp stick in my eye and the eyes of those around me. If Satan had a theme song, this must be it. It drives people to insanity (arguably I'm already there).

Whew. Now I feel much better. Well folks, that's the roundup for soft favorites listening and my cue to take more painkillers! Have a good weekend!

Ok, here's the best advertisement for my dentist that I can think of: when you're in the chair, you have your own private set of headphones, and a remote control. You can listen to whatever radio station you want, or you can watch the little tiny TV mounted on the ceiling overhead. Genius, I tell you.

Seriously, that "Bad Day" song makes me want to flay all of my own skin off, so I totally hear you on that one. The other four are all pretty awful too. Ugh.
