Busy day

Hi all!

It has been a busy day. We saw the Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum. Then we went down to the Jewish Ghetto, saw the Great Synagogue, and stuck around for tour. We also wandered down and across the city, seeing the Pantheon and the Spanish Steps again, although we saw them previously on Saturday night.

We had an interesting experience in the bar tonight. One of the couples from Britain got to chatting with us and noted that we are "enlightened Americans". This amused me to end, but also saddened me because we have a pretty big friggin hole to dig out of after the Bush administration.

What else? On the cat front, I have seen lots of feral cats, and lots of dogs (no luck in S letting me bring one home, sad to say). But tomorrow we go to the Vatican, so hopefully Scott will be seized by the Spirit and have a change of heart. Or something like that. Casper needs a more compatible brother, after all.

Seriously, what is about the cats and the ruins? There were, like, entire colonies in the old marketplace section of the forum. (Don't even get me started on the three-legged dog in the Naples train station. I was there in 1997; I still think about it sometimes. )

Have an amazing trip; have some gelato for me! In the words of Eddie Izzard--vvrrroooom, ciao! ;)
