The S-word

Seattle has had a heck of a snowy winter. Last night I ran into one of my neighbors in the hall, and he said, "have you stocked up?" I gave him a weird look, and asked him, "for what?" He laughed and told me to go check the weather.

According to one local station, we are getting a trace to 3 inches of snow; another one says one inch. Those are piddly numbers, I know, but Seattle is paralyzed by any accumulation whatsoever. We don't have enough plows for the whole city, so we just have to wait for the snow to melt. We also have a lot of hills, so even if we had plows, we couldn't send them down the hills.

I'm hoping tonight/tomorrow's so-called storm completely fizzles out, because I am done with snow for the season. It's the new four-letter word 'round here.

DC is exactly like that -- schools will close in advance when the forecast says 2 inches and they wind up with nothing at all.

I actually could go for one more good snowstorm in Ithaca. It's been insanely freezing, but it hasn't been snowing, which feels like a rip-off.

You can always come visit me...no snow ever. It's kind of sad, really, but then, it's already springtime here.

Thankfully downtown Seattle was caught in a snow shadow, and we only got snow showers. A lot of the surrounding area got walloped, though. But snow's forecasted again tonight, so who knows?
