Blerg

The vet found a tumor during Friday's CT scan. I didn't expect this, nor did the vet in the CT booth with me. The radiologist came in later to explain the results and pointed it out. Aw, crap. (Insert multiple other dirty words here).

Sammy is scheduled for surgery on Monday morning at 8:30 am. They might be able to resect whatever is in there, and that's the best hope. Another option is to take away part of his soft palate so he can at least breathe, because the tumor is blocking the pathway between his nose and his lungs. Hopefully it is a cyst that can be drained and then won't recur. Unfortunately it doesn't look like a polyp--we didn't see a clear stalk on the CT. But on the good side, the tumor didn't take up any contrast during the scan so it doesn't look like a malignancy.

So please send us lots of happy thoughts and warm wishes and positive energy and crossed fingers/paws Monday morning at 8:30 am PDT. We'll need all the help we can get to get Sammy through this and on the road to recovery.
